Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG), a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities Inc., owns and operates natural gas processing, transmission and distribution systems in British Columbia’s lower Peace, west central, and north coast regions. PNG’s western transmission system extends from the Enbridge gas transmission system north of Prince George and along the Highway 16 corridor to Terrace and then onto the port communities of Kitimat and Prince Rupert, providing gas transportation and service to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the Province’s northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd., a subsidiary of PNG, provides gas processing, transmission and distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas.
Reporting to the Manager, Project Delivery, this role offers flexible location options available in any of our operating areas such as, Terrace, Vancouver, Burns Lake, Kitimat, Smithers, Prince Rupert, Vanderhoof, Fort St John and Dawson Creek. As a new position, you’ll play a critical role in supporting PNG’s $50 million annual capital program, spanning a wide range of diverse projects.
The Project Cost Controller is a key contributor to our capital delivery team, responsible for monitoring and forecasting project costs, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and providing clear, timely reporting on progress and KPIs.

- Develop and maintain project tracking tools to capture, update, and forecast costs for each capital project. Approximately 30 projects per year ranging from $100k to $10MM
- Apply best practices in project management methodologies and cost control.
- Prepare and maintain monthly reports that track cost baselines, variances, and spending forecasts.
- Support project delivery with reporting on budgets, schedules, AFEs, and scope.
- Review invoices for accuracy, ensure monthly accruals are provided, and maintain detailed cost trackers—including oversight of daily time tickets for month-end validation.
- Prepare monthly reports for monthly, quarterly and year end financial close process.
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement controls; assist with project documentation (AFEs, POs) to facilitate approvals.
- Coordinate annual capital forecasts, including project timing, cost-to-complete, and risk identification.
- Complete year-end project completion and carryover reports.
- Prepare BCUC information reports as required, using strong written communication skills.
- Degree or diploma in business, engineering, finance, accounting, or a related discipline (accounting/finance emphasis preferred) is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with analytical tools, including advanced Excel, Microsoft Office, and JD Edwards.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with a track record of building processes to support capital projects (utility or construction experience is an asset).
- Strong financial skillset and understanding of internal controls, approval authorities, and purchasing in capital environments.

Salary Range: $84,086 to $113,763 depending on background and experience.
