Solar One’s Green Workforce program trains students in hard skills that align with the broader clean energy sector, including green construction, green building operations and maintenance, building electrification, HVAC, solar PV, and more. Solar One is seeking a Green Workforce Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Director of Training, will provide administrative support to the Director of Training and the Instructional staff. The Program Coordinator will assist in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of all workforce development instruction, both onsite at our Long Island City office and offsite at partner locations.
- Assist the director of training in creating staff and location schedules at least three months in advance.
- Coordinate related logistics to ensure programs and courses occur as scheduled and that the instructional staff have the necessary materials and resources.
- Assist the director of training in developing a supply inventory system and oversee its ongoing status.
- Order training materials and supplies, manage supply inventory for all courses at LIC and offsite locations.
- Maintain classrooms, hands-on spaces, and offices by coordinating regular maintenance and upkeep to ensure a clean and professional training environment.
- Act as liaison between the Director of Training, security staff, instructional team, and students to ensure safe and consistent day-to-day operations.
- Provide other administrative support to the director or training and instructional staff as assigned.
- Coordinate logistics with Community Engagement staff to best facilitate post-training employment opportunities for Solar One students.
- Ensure that schedules and logistics flow smoothly between the hands-on instructional needs and the job placement support needs.
- Data Management and Record Keeping
- Assist the director of training in maintaining student records tracked in Salesforce, including but not limited to grades, attendance, ID pictures, certifications, and more.
- Create metrics reports on courses and students on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- High School Diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience, or at least five years of relevant job experience in a similar role.
- Experience or interest in the climate or renewables sector, workforce development sector, and ideally the intersection of both. Altruistic desire to join a team committed to connecting underserved communities to future employment opportunities in the broader clean energy sector.
- Familiarity with any combination of the construction, electrical, plumbing, building maintenance, HVAC, electric vehicles, and/or solar technology sectors is strongly preferred.
- Strong collaboration and organizational skills are essential.
- Strong communication skills, including in-person, email, phone, and video conferencing etiquette. Expectation of representing Solar One and the Green Workforce team in a responsible and professional manner when interacting with external clients and stakeholders.
- Excellent creative problem-solving ability, especially when presented with an unexpected or ambiguous situation.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, & Salesforce is required.

- Paying $59,000-$62,000 per year (salary based on experience)
