Production Supervisor – Refrigerant
Purpose of Position:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient production operations at the plant, ensuring safety, compliance, and reliability while meeting key performance indicators. This role focuses on inventory control, production planning, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. The Supervisor will manage the daily production operations, coordinate between various departments, and ensure that customer demands are met while maintaining optimal stock levels and equipment availability. The position also requires effective management of staff, inventory accuracy, and the execution of production plans while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Principal Responsibilities:
Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
•Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), energy isolation, and waste management procedures.
•Serve as Safety, Health, Environmental, and Emergency Coordinator.
•Manage hazardous material storage in accordance with regulations.
•Host internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and addressing corrective actions.
•Maintain a safe working environment and oversee emergency procedures.
•Ensure all changes to equipment or procedures follow the EMOC procedure.
Production Coordination and Planning:
•Manage SAP Production Planning including scheduling, expediting, and inventory management.
•Oversee the execution of the production plan, ensuring that both refrigerant and spec gas products meet customer service levels and demand forecasts.
•Supervise cylinder treatment, filling, and blowdowns while coordinating priorities with the plant manager to optimize output.
•Manage safety stock in SAP, maintaining programmed safety stock and MIN/MAX levels for both gas and equipment.
•Review and manage production and delivery status of shop orders, coordinating with Customer Service, Branches, and managing short-ship reports.
•Responsible for ordering, receiving, and maintaining records of imported products for the plant.
Inventory Management:
•Supervise cycle counts and ensure inventory accuracy, making necessary adjustments in SAP.
•Lead bi-yearly inventory counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
•Oversee replenishment reports and maintain Kanbans and layout revisions.
•Ensure the plant has the required raw materials and equipment to meet production needs.
Operations and Efficiency:
•Monitor plant operations to ensure reliability and efficiency.
•Execute the production plan and ensure work instructions are followed.
•Act as a process expert, troubleshooting operational issues and escalating to higher levels when necessary.
•Ensure compliance with corporate standards and best operating practices.
•Manage planned and unplanned maintenance activities, ensuring spare parts availability and equipment condition monitoring.
Staff Management and Development:
•Supervise and lead the production team, ensuring that staff are trained, motivated, and working efficiently.
•Manage payroll, personnel issues, and staff development through performance management.
•Foster teamwork and encourage capability growth across the plant staff.
•Ensure all employees and contractors are appropriately trained in safety and operational procedures.
•Assist with the hiring and onboarding of new operational staff.
Customer and Fiscal Responsibilities:
•Ensure all production processes meet quality control requirements to deliver a quality product to customers.
•Manage customer complaints and provide technical support to commercial account representatives.
•Promote customer focus within the plant and assist the Plant Manager in managing customer relationships.
•Assist with budgeting and control of variable costs to meet or exceed performance indicators.
Skills and Qualifications:
•Bachelor Degree preferred in Engineering or Technical College Degree or equivalent formal education and certification related to a technical discipline.
•Minimum 5 years in Industrial/Plant operations/ Maintenance Experience.
•Experience with SAP Production Planning, Microsoft Excel, and Office.
•Strong coaching and leadership abilities with experience supervising and motivating production staff.
•Ability to manage and troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate with various departments for smooth production operations.
•Strong organizational and communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
•Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance, including knowledge of waste management and hazardous materials.
•Proficiency in handling crisis situations and implementing change management processes.
