Job Purpose
The Production Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating the production and inventory required to deliver valves to our customers on on-time. This includes generation of work orders, tracking material shortages with suppliers and coordinating with warehouse and assembly to complete the jobs on time to meet customer due dates. (Job Levels: I, II, or III dependent on experience and demonstrated proficiency)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Creates and releases work orders and production schedules for manufacturing and outside processing purchase orders daily.
- Manage planning and production execution data including work orders, prioritization, capacity constraints and production monitoring.
- Expedite component shortages with buyers to complete work orders on time.
- Coordinates with purchasing, production, engineering, quality, and sales to trouble shoot issues preventing job completion.
- Maintain MRP planning and scheduling parameters for "make" items.
- Track progress to weekly schedule and estimate completion dates to shipping and customer service.
- Find substitutions and local machining options in case of surprise shortages.
- Help Production Manager & Industrial Engineer in preparing weekly production schedules.
- Report scheduling, capacity and production tracking data, statistics and metrics as defined by the Master Schedule policy.
- Monitor production progress against scheduling needs and intervene as necessary to bring deliveries back into compliance with production schedules.
- Identifies and requisitions MRP inventory and non-MRP inventory requirements to meet production planning and sales requirements for assigned commodities and maintains MRP system data integrity for supplier data (unit price, delivered lead-time, EOQ)
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be required, based upon business needs.
- Minimum High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 2 years of experience in a related role or in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Organized and able to manage multiple changing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Strong work ethic and compliance with attendance policy; willing to learn new skills.
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
