We are currently looking for a Production Planning Coordinator to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Planning Coordinator is responsible to ensure the continuous flow of all orders through the shop from planning through production and on to shipment according to customer demands and quality standards, to ensure cost-efficient flow of production operations.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
SAFETY:
•Adhere to all safety rules and sets an example for others while working in the laydown and production areas.
QUALITY:
•Generates & print all work orders for all areas of the plant, work off Master schedule to transfer work orders made sheet.
•Bring in Engineering bills-of-material and routings to the plant level and review with drawing accuracy.
•Ensures accurate and timely generation of work orders.
•Oversees proper flow of required documentation through manufacturing processes
•Ensures plant BOM’s and routers are accurate, adjust time as needed.
•Check ECN blocks/releases and address as needed.
ON-TIME DELIVERY:
•Review schedule with Planning Manager (must maintain 8wks) always working on the 8th week.
•Maintains production schedules.
•Manage/update rail saw priority list/keep up with recuts.
•Ensure that all sales orders are processed and planned into shop schedule to meet committed customer deliveries.
•Monitor production progress according to Master schedule and coordinate priorities with production.
•Adjust schedules based on resource constraints or changes in demand.
COST:
•Ensure the availability of raw material and components.
•Coordinate with purchasing to maintain inventory levels without overstocking.
•Seek and eliminate bottlenecks of process workflows.
•Do all goods issue, goods receipt, TECO’ing and creating delivery notes.
PEOPLE:
•Work cooperatively with shop floor personnel.
•Coordinates with Planning, Production, Accounting, Engineering, Sales, and Purchasing to ensure delivery goals are realistic and up to date.
•Assist production with work orders/SAP questions.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
•Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALITIFCATIONS:
EDUCATION:
•High School graduate or GED preferred.
FIELD OF EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a production or operations role.
•Solid understanding of production planning and quality control principles.
•Experience with MRP II (Manufacturing Resource Planning) systems.
•Proficient in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding routings
•Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
•Must be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
•Knowledge of SAP or comparable production planning software is considered a strong asset
•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and maintain clear documentation and follow-through
•Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as within a team environment
PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; occasional standing and walking for your scheduled shift.
•Must remain stationary for extended periods and move throughout the building to access files.
•Must work effectively in a noisy environment.
•Ability to lift and move equipment or objects up to 20-25 pounds occasionally.
•Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
•Occasional travel required, involving walking, standing, sitting, and driving for varying durations.
•Site inspections required to identify and address safety concerns.
•Frequent use of hands and arms for dialing phones and using a computer mouse.
