Jackfish Resources is a privately held junior oil and gas company with operations currently focused in Central and Southern Alberta. Jackfish is looking for individuals who are looking to join our team and become a key contributing member as we begin to grow our organization.
The Jackfish team is seeking a, Exploitation/Production Engineer who will be responsible for the maturation of volumes across a large asset base, and accountable for planning and delivery of development wells to ensure annual production targets are met. This team member will work as part of a multi-disciplinary sub-surface team responsible for growth and development of Jackfish's Alberta asset base.
The Engineer will focus on waterflood monitoring, field development planning, and front-end planning support for development well drilling. This role supports broader needs of the project team on appraisal activity, surveillance, abandonment, well performance and reservoir optimization, and well design. As an experienced Engineer in the team, this role helps to coach junior employees, and plays a key role in integration of business deliverables.
· This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer
· Manage day-to-day operations and report on spending and production variances
· Manage business plan inputs and provide production forecasting for quarterly and annual cycles
· Evaluate well performance through Decline curve analysis Decline Curve Analysis (DCA) and Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) for our existing 500+ well inventory
· Generate type curve profiles per bench and varying completion designs as part of gathering and assessment of market intelligence
· Deliver annual fluid model updates for producing and new wells
· Coordinate deferment estimates for sub-surface SIMOPS, surveillance, and commercial
· Collaborate with the planning team to manage plant ullage and volume delivery
· Manage water balance for completions and disposal activity
· Provide pore pressure and fracture gradient (PPFG) inputs to well delivery
· Propose well intervention programs and optimization opportunity
Please Note: This team supports a hybrid work model, where team members can work from both home and the office based on business need.
· Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in petroleum engineering or another engineering related field (experience petroleum engineering technologists will be considered)
· 5+ years of experience in a reservoir engineering role, with a focus on unconventional reservoirs, preferably in the Montney play
· P. Eng designation is required for the role
· Knowledge of control frameworks for petroleum resource volume management and hydrocarbon maturation
· Creative problem solving combined with a strong understanding of Facilities and Production Engineering is considered an asset
· Software experience in CMG, Harmony/Whitson+, Kappa, Valnav, and Enersight
