We are currently seeking for a full time, permanent Production Accountant for our office in downtown Calgary, AB.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will work closely with multiple business units, including Operations, Regulatory, Engineering, IS/IT, and Finance departments, to ensure Sunshine’s production, revenue and royalty accounting processes are in alignment corporately and compliant with AER Directives and Oil Sands Royalty Regulation requirements.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
•Work with Regulatory, Operations and Finance staff in the preparation and ongoing maintenance of the Measurement, Accounting and Reporting Plan (“MARP”) and Oil Sands Royalty application and reporting
•Ensure the appropriate data is gathered and all reporting requirements are completed to meet corporate and regulatory deadlines:
•Ensure material balances for bitumen, diluent, water/steam and natural gas are completed and maintained on an ongoing basis.
•Proactively work with Operations in identifying, documenting and addressing issues to ensure ongoing compliance within its approved tolerances.
•Manage all related interface aspects with AER, DOE and the Registry (Petrinex).
•Ensure the monthly financial vouchers to record production, revenue and royalty activities are consistent with corporate reporting requirements and schedules.
•Proactively work at continuous improvements within processes, procedures and communications relating to all aspects of the production/revenue/royalty accounting function:
•Analyze production, revenue and royalty business processes to identify regulatory (AER-MARP/EPAP, DOE-OSR/NPR) compliance control points.
•Research requirements and develop recommendations for production, revenue and royalty accounting processes for project expansions, new business activities and regulatory change requirements.
•Ensure that Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Submissions are submitted in an accurate and timely manner and to the appropriate systems:
•Annual EPAP Submissions.
•Monthly third-party shipper confirmations, trucking details, and revenue statements.
•Annual EOPS and DOE Audits.
•Ensure all data requirements within the above submissions reflects the current operations.
•Other duties as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET:
•CAPPA with a minimum 2 years of related experience.
•A self-starter, who is able to work in a dynamic environment with minimum support, supervision and direction.
•Knowledgeable and conversant with: In-situ thermal production accounting practices, AER Directives, Oil Sands Royalty, Allowable Costs and Bitumen Valuation Regulation requirements.
•Above average knowledge of Excel and Sage 50.
•Experience with FDC and PA system requirement definitions and implementation.
•Experience with Government and Regulatory Submission system such as Petrotranz, Petrinex, and ETS.
•Knowledge in Financial Accounting would be an asset.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
