What You’ll Do as a Procurement Specialist
As a Procurement Specialist At Lewis Services, You’ll
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery performance
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure consistent supply and favorable terms
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements to maximize organizational value
- Manage procurement activities for direct materials and issue purchase orders per company policy
- Monitor order status to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
- Analyze procurement data using Excel and Power BI to inform decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Track and analyze procurement costs to identify savings and efficiency improvements
- Lead cost-saving and productivity initiatives aligned with business goals
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting for procurement-related expenses
- Utilize JD Edwards for procurement and inventory management
- Manage and maintain accurate parts and pricing information in JD Edwards
- Support the bidding process by coordinating and gathering data across departments
- Coordinate logistics and vendor support for storm response, including lodging and supplier needs
- Identify and maintain relationships with diverse spend vendors to support enterprise procurement goals
- Collaborate across departments and regions to align on project objectives and priorities
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks such as delays, shortages, and vendor non-compliance
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, accuracy, and attention to detail in all procurement documentation
- Support the Director of Supply Chain and PMO on special projects as needed
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- 2–3 years of proven experience as a Buyer, Procurement, or Sourcing Specialist—preferably within vegetation management or asset-intensive industries
- Strong Excel skills with demonstrated ability to analyze data and generate reports
- Experience with JD Edwards or similar procurement/inventory systems
- Familiarity with Power BI, including creating visualizations and analyzing data
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to maintain supplier relationships
- Understanding of BOM and its relationship to vegetation management procurement
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting multi-component office or field project purchases
- Knowledge of utility services, fleet, or vegetation management operations
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Collaborative, adaptable, and process improvement–minded
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build internal and external networks
- Computers, phones, scanners, copiers, and other standard office equipment
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- JD Edwards and Power BI for data management and visualization
- Sit, stand, walk, reach, and perform repetitive keystrokes regularly
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, and lift/move up to 25 lbs.
