Scope:
The Procurement Specialist will play a key role in supporting our company's continued growth by serving as the primary point of contact between suppliers and the organization. This role is responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies that align with company budgets and supply needs. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Procurement Specialist will manage the procurement of goods and materials by identifying potential suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, and negotiating favorable terms to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Responsibilities:
•Solicit quotes and build strong vendor relationships to procure materials and equipment at the most competitive prices.
•Create, manage, and close out purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.
•Research and evaluate new vendors, suppliers, and materials to enhance sourcing options.
•Monitor and compare delivery schedules with purchase order requirements to ensure timely receipt.
•Collaborate with the Warehouse and Accounting departments to resolve any invoice or receiving discrepancies.
•Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure timely delivery of all materials and equipment.
•Generate replenishment orders based on inventory levels and usage trends.
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all purchased products and transactions.
•Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors and suppliers to optimize value.
•Analyze procurement costs and prepare regular reports on purchasing activity and trends.
•Evaluate price, quality, and reliability of products, vendors, and services to support ongoing projects and competitive quoting.
•Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned to support company needs.
Skills & Qualifications:
•3–5 years of procurement experience in a project-based manufacturing environment required
•5–10 years of related industry experience preferred
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•Proficiency in ERP systems. Experience with Global Shop Solutions is a plus
•Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
•Exceptional negotiation, communication (written, verbal, and listening), and organizational skills
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
•Goal-oriented with a strong commitment to follow-through and task completion
•Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
•APICS certification (especially CSCP) is a plus
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or desk
•Ability to walk through warehouse and production areas as needed for vendor coordination or inventory checks.
•Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
•Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
•Visual acuity required to read documents, monitor inventory, and analyze data.
•Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and via email.
