We are hiring up to one (1) full-time permanent Procurement Associate position working out of Edmonton, AB.
The EDTI team is looking to add an organized, client-focused Procurement Associate. As the Procurement Associate, you are accountable for the day-to-day Procurement functions, including providing purchasing and sourcing expertise for the Water and Drainage Services Business Units. In addition, you will meet operational needs while reducing risk, providing favorable pricing, delivery, and terms and conditions for goods and services. This includes achieving compliance with company policies, trade agreements, and procurement best practices.
What you’d be responsible for
•With the guidance and support of Manager, preparing and executing the Competitive Bidding process (e.g. Pre-Qualification / RFP / RFQ / RFI / Project Request) culminating in the award and execution; and, assisting in contract administration in accordance with Procurement Policy, EPCOR Policies, best practices, and external regulatory requirements (i.e. Trade Agreements: NWPTA, CFTA, and CETA).
•With guidance and support from the Manager, participating in negotiating agreements that meet business requirements, ensuring supplier performance and mitigating risks.
•Establishing and maintaining strategic supplier relationships and contracts including preparing for and participating in contract review sessions between internal Stakeholders and suppliers;
•Assessing competition, market opportunities/threats and assisting in developing tactics and recommendations to optimize overall cost, delivery and quality for assigned procurement portfolio;
•Advising and making recommendations to Stakeholders with respect to potential procurement risks and support Stakeholders on the purchase to pay (P2P) processes;
•Creating, utilizing, and improving tools and reporting to assist in the efficient execution of the Procurement and business unit objectives.
•Providing input to the Corporate Procurement plans and directions and ensure on-going appropriate relationships with other positions.
•Processing procurement transactions, such as Requisitions and Purchase Orders that meet business requirements, completing Procurement related forms (e.g. HSE Pre-qualification and Evaluation, Insurance, WCB, Bonding, Supplier Registration), ensure supplier performance, and mitigating risk;
•Providing timely and responsive customer service to Stakeholders, resolving issues and advancing complex concerns as required;
•Ensuring orders placed with suppliers arrive as promised and expedite/escalate as
required;
•Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate Supply Chain performance metrics. Key metrics: meeting customer expectations; cost saving/avoidance, Purchase Order turnaround time, contract availability, competitiveness, operational effectiveness and efficiency
What’s required to be successful.
•A two-year post-secondary diploma in Supply Chain Management or a business-related field is required (equivalent experience may be considered)
•A four-year post-secondary degree (i.e. Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, etc.) from a recognized educational institute is considered an asset
•1+ years of experience in category-based buying and negotiating contracts or directly related experience is required
•A purchasing designation (e.g. SCMP) or working toward a designation is considered an asset
•Knowledge and experience in assisting in negotiating commercial terms and conditions and competitive bidding laws
•Understanding of entire procurement process starting with the identification of need through to contract execution and supplier relationship management
•Previous experience in a utilities company or large corporation similar to EPCOR is considered an asset
•Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
•Demonstrated proficiency with Oracle or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software

•Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
•Demonstrated ability in the application of supplier management tools and skills
•Ability to effectively assist in negotiating with suppliers and 3rd parties to create value for the business
•Understanding of the entire procurement process starting with the identification of need through to contract execution and supplier relationship management
•Able to effectively communicate and contribute in a team and/or project environment
•Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively present material and recommendations to a variety of audiences in both formal and informal settings

Wage: Starting at $39.23 per hour. Placement is based on qualifications, credentials and experience. These rates may change subject to ratification of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly
