General Foreman for the operations at the Borealis mine site will provide a key supporting role to the Mine Manager. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the process plant and leach pad is meeting production and safety targets, and that the process operators are trained and capable of executing their work safely and efficiently.
o Ensure operating personnel comply with safety training requirements and follow procedures according to mine safety standards.
o Collaborate with the HSLP (Health, Safety and Loss Prevention) Supervisor, who is available as a resource to achieve these goals.
o Train process operators on a consistent way of operating plant and leach pad. Help build the shared operating culture.
o Document process knowledge in SOP’s, videos and other formats and communicate to the crews.
o Develop work plans for process, electrical and maintenance. Ensure sufficient resources and follow plan through to completion.
o Provide performance evaluations, mentorship and feedback to operators. Evaluate operators against the ADR experience matrix.
o Manage process operating costs and identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase recovery.
o Monitor operating consumables and maintenance spent versus budgetary targets. Document reagents and material usage. Communicate with finance for orders and inventory as required.
o Ensure all ADR reporting requirements are met- production logs, crossover documentation, others.
o Provide written weekly operating report to Mine Manager along with daily comment in Daily Operating Report.
· Strong supervisory capability, with proven experience building and managing teams and achieving operational goals.
· 5+ years of practical operating experience, with specific gold/silver heap leaching experience, including supervising and training.
· Metallurgical engineering, equipment operation or maintenance background are an asset.
· Ability to direct field work with a demonstrated focus on safety.
· Ability to learn, manage and maintain all necessary systems.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
· Able to wear and demonstrate to employees the use of personal protective equipment including hardhat, steel toed footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves (rubber, leather & cloth), and/or any other equipment required to do the job assigned safely.
· Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information to management.
· Ability to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
· Able to lift at a minimum 25 pounds periodically.
· Must possess a valid Driver’s license and be able to operate a light vehicle.
· Ability driving to remote work areas and attend meetings where scheduled.
