Cognascents is currently seeking a Process Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for this role. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in process safety, a background in process engineering, and a desire to develop their career in this field.

As a Process Engineer at Cognascents, you will collaborate with a highly skilled team specializing in process safety. Your role will involve conducting pressure relief and flare system analyses, performing engineering calculations to establish safe operating limits, and contributing to risk assessments. You will also support process hazard analyses and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

The Process Engineer will be required to develop technical and engineering drawings. The engineer will be expected to perform the following tasks:
- Design and analyze pressure relief and flare headers, including the design of new pressure relief systems and resolving existing inadequacies.
- Conduct process simulation (steady state or dynamic) for oil and gas, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries, using software such as Aspen Plus®, HYSYS, Symmetry, Pro/II, etc.
- Develop and reconcile PFDs and P&IDs.
- Integrate process simulation with pressure relief design and P&IDs.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, Cause and Effect charts, SAFE charts, Instrument diagrams, etc.
- Understand and comply with all Cognascents and client safety procedures that govern the work being performed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- 5 years of experience in the field as a process engineer or a closely related discipline.
- Proficiency in relief valve and flare system design.
- Proficiency in 3rd-party process simulators and relief system management tools.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Travel requirements vary throughout the year, but no more than 35% of travel is anticipated.
