Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Principal Mechanical Process Design Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Principal Mechanical Process Design Engineer -
Duties:
•Engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
•Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems.
•Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-effective results.
•Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks.
•A technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, to resolve complex problems.
•Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
•Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s} of technical expertise.
•Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles.
•Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these.

•Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations.
•Occasionally prepare reports for external publication.
•Enhance expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies.
•Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles.
Education/Yrs. Of Experience:
•Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience OR A MS with 8+ years' experience OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more.
Skills/Experience:
•A minimum of 10 years’ design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
•Must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities.
•Must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a nuclear industry/facility.
•Must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications etc.
•Must be able to perform weekly field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures.
•Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
Other Job Requirements:
•Able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance
