Job Summary
The primary task of the Preventative and General Maintenance Technician involves completing tasks required to keep our coating and cleaning equipment in good operating condition, enabling our production line to produce quality coatings. Secondary tasks may include general maintenance and repairs for all other assigned equipment and indoor/outdoor complex facilities. The Preventative and General Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Preventative and General Maintenance Leads, and other Maintenance or Engineering personnel as required.
- Perform all Preventive Maintenance tasks to: Clean, maintain, disassemble, repair, and reassemble PVD and CVD coating/cleaning equipment for proper operation.
- Train alongside skilled maintenance technicians to expand personal knowledge of our specialized equipment.
- Organize spare shielding and other parts required for coating and other machinery preventative maintenance or repairs.
- Build, clean, and repair fixturing such as: planetary jigs, carousels, consoles, constant rotational fixtures, and other tasks as needed.
- Complete or assist with miscellaneous tasks/projects as needed, and perform other duties campus-wide as assigned.
- Clear ice and snow from walkways as needed for safety.
- Perform safety and maintenance inspections as needed.
- Maintain an organized work area, cleaning as needed to create a safe and appealing environment.
- Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment policies.
- Provide personal basic tools and tool storage.
- Observe signs of equipment wear or other flaws, making recommendations for upcoming maintenance/repairs.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Basic written and communication skills.
- Competency in both English and Metric Measuring Systems.
- Basic knowledge of AC and DC power.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule with some nights and/or weekends required to provide maintenance when machines are not needed for production.
The physical demands described below must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
- Will be required to talk, hear, and see. Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to differentiate between colors.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to stand 6-10 hours a day.
- Occasional shoveling, raking, wheel barrel use, or miscellaneous landscape type work.
- Occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 lbs.
- This position is in a manufacturing setting.
- Indoor work which may not be temperature controlled.
- Outdoor work, which may include inclement weather.
- Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
- Exposed to periodic dust and/or coating debris.
