Rancho is seeking a Pre-Inspection Supervisor (Rover) to oversee daily field operations for a team of pre-inspectors working across the Central Valley and Southern California regions. This position plays a critical role in coordinating field inspections, ensuring safety and compliance, and providing direct supervision to inspectors, performing vegetation assessments on transmission and distribution electric facilities. This is a high-travel role that requires flexibility, independence, and strong leadership in remote field environments.
- Provide daily direction, oversight, and support to team of pre-inspectors performing vegetation inspections along transmission and distribution systems, lines, poles, and other facilities.
- Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work across multiple geographic zones.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, vegetation management standards, environmental regulations and internal operational procedures.
- Perform field audits and quality control reviews on completed inspections ensuring accuracy, compliance with standards, and identification of any deficiencies for corrective action.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members, providing coaching and conducting performance reviews to foster professional growth.
- Monitor production metrics, schedule adherence, and deliverables.
- Address field escalations, access challenges, and customer issues.
- Complete and submit accurate reports and documentation in a timely manner, ensuring all information is thorough and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to schedule attainment by performing supplemental vegetation assessments
- Participate in monthly scorecard meetings with the client, providing updates on Quality, Compliance and Safety.
- Serve as the primary field liaison between Rancho leadership and client representatives- 3 + years utility vegetation management experience; with 1-year in oversight capacity preferred, overseeing pre-inspection or quality assurance teams desired.
- ISA Certified Arborist (Required).
- ISA TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification) must be attained within 6 months of employment.
- ISA Utility Specialist Certification (Preferred).
- Strong understanding of vegetation management regulations, techniques, industry best practices, ANSI A300 tree care standards and ASC Z133.1 Safety Standards
- Familiarity with Client’s (SCE) Work Management systems, field date collection software and GPS mapping tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis skills for reporting and tracking inspection data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create detailed reports/presentations and communicate effectively.
- Ability to resolve customer constraints or concerns professionally and effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle; experience on unimproved / unpaved roadways a plus.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrain.
- Additional certifications in quality control, vegetation management, or related fields are a plus.
