Power Transmission Analyst

A key Optimus client is looking to hire a Transmission Analyst

to provide analysis on market pricing across all ISO/RTOs.

Key activities include:

- Perform transmission market simulations using power flow programs to identify transmission system capabilities and limitations

- Support hedging and trading activities through CRRs/FTRs/TCCs to help optimize the portfolio

- Provide transmission expertise and analytical support for the commercial development and strategic origination activities

- Produce short-term to mid-term market reports and forecasts

- Support other analytical and managerial efforts as needed within and beyond Commercial Analytics

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems as focus, mathematics, applied statistics, computer science or data science required; Advanced degree in technical fields is highly desirable

- Electricity market structures, dynamics, and rules; FTR, CRR and TCC structures Power plant operations

- Load flow and nodal price modeling software platforms (such as PSLF, PSSE, PROMOD, UPLAN, Dayzer, etc.) and associated data structures

- Experience with transmission modeling; analytical applications such as Excel, SQL, Visual Basic, Python, R, SAS, C++, Java/.NET, and other programming languages

- Understanding of ISO market structure and energy commodities.
