The advertised hiring range for the Power Risk Analyst II will be $82,000 - $102,500, with a maximum opportunity of up to $123,000 with tenure and strong performance.
The advertised hiring range for the Power Risk Analyst Senior will be $100,320 - $125,400, with a maximum opportunity of up to $150,480 with tenure and strong performance.
Introductory Period: New employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.

Chelan County PUD is seeking a Power Risk Analyst to support our mission of delivering reliable, sustainable energy to the communities of North Central Washington. Based in Wenatchee, this role is part of a collaborative team responsible for monitoring market activity, validating transactions, and analyzing energy-related risks. Overview
The Power Risk Analyst II plays a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with power trading, energy markets, and regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for providing analytical support, developing risk reports, and ensuring data accuracy in risk management processes. The analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to monitor trading activities, enforce compliance, and enhance risk mitigation strategies.
- Market Risk Monitoring: Develop and maintain regular and ad-hoc reports for the risk management team, which provide insights into power trading activities and risk exposure. Compile and submit compliance related reports, as assigned.
- Transaction Monitoring: Review trade capture activity, ensuring transactions meet internal standards and risk tolerance limits related to current bilateral markets and/or future organized markets.
- Data Analysis and Validation: Analyze transactional data for accuracy and compliance with policies, procedures and contracts. Identify and resolve errors, ensuring data integrity and compliance with established policy limits.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with trading, compliance, finance, and operations teams to resolve data discrepancies, improve reporting accuracy, and address risk-related challenges. Crosstrain on assigned credit risk management duties and provide backup support as assigned.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the enhancement of risk monitoring procedures, reporting tools, and overall risk management processes to improve efficiency and decision-making.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Overview
The Senior Power Risk Analyst is responsible for performing advanced power and credit risk analysis, analyzing complex energy trading transactions and credit requirements, and generating in-depth reporting in support of strategic energy risk management initiatives. This role includes independent responsibility for power and credit risk reporting and verifying and interpreting compliance with regulatory agency requirements, and complex contract terms, and making recommendations to management to mitigate risks. Provides technical guidance to junior analysts.
- Market and Credit Risk Management: Lead the development of detailed power and credit risk exposure reports, analyzing hedging activities and market conditions for management and executive decision-making. Makes recommendations to mitigate risk. Analyze and interpret financial information to establish credit limits.
- Advanced Transactional Analysis: Conduct in-depth audits of trade capture and reporting systems, validating transactions, ensuring compliance with risk policies, and calculating reserve requirements. Establish and perform analysis and activities related to current bilateral markets and/or future organized markets.
- Compliance Oversight: Monitor counterparty credit strength, credit limits and risk exposure, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and independently verify transactions, trade data, and other elements to align with organizational policies, procedures, contracts and federal and state requirements. Compile and submit internal and external compliance reports as required.
- Technical Guidance: Provide expertise and guidance to team members, sharing best practices and training on advanced power and credit risk analysis and reporting, upon request.
- Process Optimization: Drive process improvements in data reporting, compliance workflows, and risk management procedures. Cross-train with Power Risk Analyst I and II positions to provide backup support as assigned.
