This position will be filled as an Engineer III, Sr, Sr Lead (PwR Gen) or Tech Support Spec III, Sr or Sr Lead (Fos) based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Job Summary/Purpose
Develops and implements plans, schedules, procedures, tools and processes required to establish and maintain a comprehensive NERC Operations and Planning (O&P) and CIP Compliance Program for the Power Generation plants.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Supports the implementation of NERC programs to ensure full compliance with all applicable NERC O&P and CIP standards
- Works effectively with corporate NERC compliance, Power Delivery, SPO, and IT groups with governance and support responsibilities
- Develops and implements plans, schedules, procedures, tools and processes required to establish and maintain a comprehensive Power Generation NERC O&P and CIP Compliance Program
- Plans, develops, and executes Power Generation training programs designed to ensure compliance with NERC O&P and CIP Compliance program requirements
- Travels to assist in the performance of NERC Compliance Assessments, Gap Analyses, compliance program setups, mock audits, audit participation and training of personnel
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) for Power Generation CIP responsibilities and assigned Operations and Planning NERC standards
- Provide NERC O&P and CIP Compliance oversight and execution for Power Generation and deliver effective process and program management to Power Generation management and plants including:
- Track compliance of all NERC assigned O&P and CIP standards that apply to Power Generation, including:
- Monitor compliance at all plants and at the headquarter level
- Track and maintain database of all records that prove compliance with O&P and CIP standards
- Write, revise and update Procedures to ensure NERC compliance
- Develop processes and tools to ensure compliance can be easily tracked and documented
- Arrange and lead internal audits to ensure compliance
- Act as Power Generation point of contact for O&P and CIP communications between Power Generation, IT, Transmission and NERC Compliance on NERC O&P and CIP standards data and issues
- Ensure that Power Generation’s input is given to NERC and that Power Generation is prepared when new O&P and CIP standards are approved
- Be the Power Generation O&P and CIP representative for external audits of Entergy by NERC or SERC
- Perform preparation work for the audits that ensure Power Generation is compliant on all CIP requirements
- Prepare information for all NERC/SERC regulatory filings, communicate this information to Power Generation Leadership and submit all filings
- Fully develop assigned PGEN O&P program/processes and provide secondary NERC support to other Power Generation NERC SME’s
- Fully develop PGEN CIP program/processes and provide guidelines/standard and training to fleet to ensure knowledge and compliance
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Education for Engineer III, Sr or Sr Lead:
- Minimum requirement is a 4-year Engineering degree from an accredited University or College. B.S. in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Minimum Education for Tech Support Spec III, Sr or Sr Lead:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent power plant and industry work experience. Desired: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or B.S. Degree in Science in a technical field.
Minimum Experience For Engineer III, Sr Or Sr Lead
- Engineer III: At least 4 - 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Engineer, Sr: At least 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Engineer, Sr Lead: At least 8 years of applicable and progressive experience
Minimum Experience for Tech Support Spec III, Sr or Sr Lead:
- Tech Support Spec III: At least 4 - 6 years of power plant or relevant technical experience is preferred
- Tech Support Spec, Sr: At least 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Tech Support Spec, Sr Lead: At least 8 years of applicable and progressive experience
- At least 4 years of power plant experience (Technical knowledge/experience with power generation systems and equipment, including operational theory as it relates to NERC standards and compliance)
- At least 4 years of experience with NERC standards and NERC compliance programs
- At least 3 - 5 years of related technical writing and training
- Experience with relays, voltage regulators/excitation systems
- Experience in the development of technical documents and training materials
- Knowledge and understanding of safe and acceptable engineering practices and principles
- Ability to analyze large amounts of technical data and structure such information for the purposes of clearly documenting and demonstrating compliance with all applicable NERC Reliability Compliance standards
- Ability to formulate and communicate thoughts and ideas developed into cogent operational guidance for personnel
- Excellent writing and analytical skills and an ability to communicate information in both formal and informal settings
- Thorough knowledge of English composition principles and technical and non-technical vocabulary required
- Proficient technical expertise with computer software and database development
- Strong interpersonal skills, team player and leadership skills
