Develops daily and forward trading analytics for energy marketing. Establishes pricing for wholesale sales and purchase transactions. Identifies excess generation available for power trading activities. Trends and projects forward energy demand. Evaluates and determines optimal utilization of available energy resources in response to changing operating conditions. Assesses the performance of system operations and power/gas trading activities. Works under close supervision with regular review of completed assignments.
Assists in the identification of day-ahead energy marketing opportunities to meet demand obligations while optimizing available resources.
Interfaces on a regular basis with internal staff to assess abnormal operating conditions and near term outages that impact operational planning activities.
Maintains detailed records and other related documentation as required. Produces reports as needed.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Bachelor’s degree in the area of specialty from an accredited school.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of energy marketing activities in bilateral and organized markets. Demonstrated skills in understanding reliability requirements affecting system operations including WECC and NERC standards. Demonstrated knowledge of power system economics, economic dispatch, generator efficiency and energy trading. Demonstrated skills in working and concentrating in a fast-paced environment with short-decision time frame. Demonstrated skills in communicating and presenting facts.
Supports 24x7 operations which includes nights, weekends and holidays. General office environment. Requires color vision and ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Annual Salary: $78,500 (Min) to $92,300 (Mid); Up to 12% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
