Portfolio Optimization Analyst – North America
Summary•The Portfolio Optimization Analyst will report to the Head of Portfolio Construction and Optimization. This role will foster a culture engrained in a mentality of profitable risk-taking and disciplined trading. The Portfolio Optimization capability will be responsible for identifying, reporting, and communicating the risks and opportunities inherit in the portfolio and provide advisory services to help manage the portfolio risk and opportunities with the focus on maximizing the return on risk throughout the organization and a greater understanding of the portfolio.
•A key aspect of this role is to be a strategic partner in supporting the growth of the Trading business while identifying and helping to manage and monitor risk and performance associated with new and existing positions.
Main Responsibilities:
•Primary role/responsibility is to maximize the return on risk throughout the organization
+ Evident by increased risk deployment, risk-taking mentality framework, lower/minimized drawdowns, and higher gross profits per risk deployed
•Identify and assess potential risks that have a material impact to the portfolio/organization
+ A comprehensive assessment and understanding of the various factors that could have a positive and/or negative impact on the portfolio
+ Evaluate and communicate the potential impact to Senior Management and the stakeholders with a recommended action plan
•Utilize risk optimization tools, metrics, and techniques to measure, analyse, communicate and report portfolio performance and support profitable risk-taking mentality to grow the overall risk profile over time
•Continually identify, develop, and enhance risk metrics and analysis to understand and communicate risk vs return, embedded risks, enhanced performance reporting, and areas of trading that demonstrate edge over time
•Identify and propose additional tools, processes, and analysis required to measure, monitor, and improve the overall risk-taking mentality that is in line with parameters set by Senior Management
•Evaluate the portfolio under different market scenarios/conditions to understand the portfolio’s risk and concentration that can have both a potential positive and/or negative impact
•Evaluate system and models to ensure they reflect the portfolio’s risk profile
•Partner with Middle Office to ensure daily position and PNL is captured and reported in a consistent manner to enable analysis and evaluation of the portfolio’s performance
•Establish productive partnerships focused on risk with business units
Profile
•At least 2-5 years experience working in a trading environment.
•Experience with MS Office, and advanced user of Excel.
•Experience working in a team environment and socializing work.
•Advanced knowledge of derivatives/options, real options, financial mathematics, and statistics.
•Proactive and self-motivated
•Good verbal and written presentation skills
•Fast learner and detail oriented.
