Responsible for the proper operation of the power facility while on shift. Operates, maintains, and repairs power plant equipment including but not limited to high pressure boilers, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), chillers, cooling tower and, steam/gas turbines under normal & emergency situations to provide electrical and thermal energy. Strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety. Work under the direction of the Lead Plant Maintenance Operator or Plant Manager.
Ø Responsible for local operation and monitoring of facility equipment from outside the control room and assist the Lead Operator in the control room when needed. Coordinates with the maintenance team members to ensure reliable and efficient use of equipment down time.
Ø Reads meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels to verify operating conditions.
Ø Observes, records and evaluates data; maintains and reviews operational and maintenance reporting logs.
Ø Opens and closes valves as required for proper system operation and mechanical isolation. Opens and closes circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation
Ø Informs Lead Operator of unusual conditions or damaged equipment.
Ø Uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to start, stop, adjust or modify equipment operations to ensure all equipment is operated within the recommended operating range.
Ø Reads blueprints and uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair facility equipment and ensure equipment is operated within operating range.
Ø Fully supports the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System by performing preventative or corrective maintenance and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance.
Ø Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packings, gaskets, valves, and gauges. Cleaning, replacing, oiling and lubricating other component parts and equipment as required.
Ø Visually inspects and listens to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication
Ø Performing preventative or corrective maintenance and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance. Writes and submits corrective work orders for approval.
Ø Performs water analysis tests and adjusts chemical injection rates to maintain water chemistry within specifications.
Ø Reads, understands, and complies with all facility safety and regulatory procedures.
Ø Work hours on a rotating shift basis and assist when needed at the Plant
Ø Cooperate with and participate as a team member.
Ø Other duties may be assigned as needed
Possess a Stationary Steam License or equivalent in any state within in the United States
Demonstrated knowledge of all facets of power plant operations. Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations, writing operating procedures and training of other personnel. Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to do reaching, climbing, lifting (up to 30 pounds), walking, and stooping.
