Position: Plant Maintenance Technician
Department: Maintenance
We are seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician to join our mining team. This is a full-time position, at our open pit copper mine and process plant between Moab and Monticello, Utah. Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:
•Performs diagnostic, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of fixed plant operational equipment and related systems including but not limited to compressors, pumps, boilers, fans, and valves.
•Performs preventative maintenance such as changing filters, checking seals for leakage, oil levels, and lubrication systems.
•Performs welding and fabrication.
•May operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and boom trucks.
•Above all, is safety minded and values a safe environment.
•Performs maintenance repairs on other mine facilities including but not limited to the EW and office buildings.
•Responsible for observing and following all safety regulations with required PPE.
•Maintains plant equipment to meet regulatory codes at the county, state, and federal levels. (MSHA, etc.)
Qualifications:
•Previous work history in fixed plant maintenance is preferred.
•Can communicate and coordinate maintenance activities with other personnel and departments.
•Owns and maintains all required tools for the technician level on site.
•Understands the hazards associated with equipment.
•Knowledge of pump, motor, gearbox installs, repairs, and rebuilds.
•Knowledge of compressors, tear down, and rebuild.
•Understands the fundamentals of hydraulic systems.
•Can perform lube services and PMs on light duty vehicles.
•Understands oil sampling procedures and can perform these tasks correctly.
•Can perform basic troubleshooting tasks of all vehicle systems.
•Can read and understand maintenance service and parts manuals.
•Takes pride in work, organized, and keeps tools and equipment in proper order.
General requirements for all maintenance positions:
•Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety related instructions.
•Repair and maintain small vehicles and help with the repair of equipment as needed by other departments, utilize maintenance tracking software.
•Must be able to read Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
•Shall comply with all company policies and procedures.
•Strives to learn and become better skilled in plant maintenance procedures.
•Proficient at filling out daily logbook and service records.
•Perform all PM services in a proficient manner.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time during a regular workday; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices; carry tools and equipment; work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling position; be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks.
