The Plant Controller directs and oversees accounting and finance operations for a single plant. This role manages financial and operational performance through month-end activities, financial reporting, and budgeting/forecasting. The Plant Controller ensures that accounting procedures align with company objectives and compliance requirements. This is a hands-on role for a proactive business partner who thrives on collaboration with leadership.
- Serve as a strategic partner to site leadership, proactively managing budgeting, forecasting, and business decisions.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis, including cost control, efficiency tracking, variance reporting, and cost forecasting.
- Maintain strong oversight of capital expenditures, especially during a major ongoing expansion.
- Analyze plant financials with business acumen to guide informed decision-making.
- Oversee internal and external financial controls related to assets (including inventory) and expenditures.
- Recommend, implement, and monitor performance benchmarks for financial and operational metrics.
- Lead month-end closing and financial reporting, including account analysis and reconciliation.
- Conduct monthly review meetings with manufacturing and finance teams to assess plant performance.

- Meet daily with the Plant Manager to discuss production and costing, including labor, materials, overhead, distribution, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with accounting best practices, U.S. GAAP, and company policies.
- Validate bill of materials and costing to accurately reflect production operations.
- Safeguard the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Collaborate with operations on cost pricing, inventory evaluation, and supply chain optimization.
- Own the quoting process in partnership with the sales team.
- Actively participate as a member of the mill’s management team.
- Bachelor’s degree required- in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.- Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting.
- Skilled in building financial models and conducting in-depth analysis.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced spreadsheet functions and data visualization.
- Experience managing large CAPEX projects is a plus.
- Adaptable team player with strong communication skills across organizational levels.
- Experience with ERP systems; Epicor knowledge is a plus. Ability to pull data from Access etc
- Proven experience managing teams or projects.
