To provide leadership to the team and to manage the operators, plant, and equipment to provide a quality
service in the manufacturing of roof support systems to our customer with a strong focus on ensuring high
- Ensure the plant work practices and environment comply with company SH&E and regulatory authority standards.
- Manage local relationships with regulators.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the SH&E plan for the sites.
- Participate in SH&E monthly meetings & Toolbox talks.
- Provide leadership and coaching to employees to ensure SH&E plans and standards are met and plant operations are managed safely.
- Promptly report, investigate and mitigate all unsafe working conditions and incidents.
- Ensure minimum damage by implementing environmental improvements plans, minimising waste, and waste reporting.
- Implement SH&E Model Procedures including a particular focus on the Core Procedures.
- Ensure plant and equipment is in good order by regular inspections and site audits.
- Create a positive SH&E culture by encouraging employees to participate in safety programs including JSERA’s, JCC”s, and promote safe work practices.
- Assist in the management of emergency & security plans.
- Identify and enter GLI.s into the system
Commercial Ownership/Creative Customer Solutions – run the business as if it is your own:
- Manage costs at the plant level.
- Develop relationships with key customer personnel.
- Prompt follow up of customer queries/complaints.
- Optimise scheduling of resources to efficiently run plant operations.
- Manage site KPI’s.
- Manage DIFOT
- Work with Maintenance Supervisor to develop and implement maintenance schedules for plant & equipment and ensure both are kept in good order by regular inspections.
- Ensure sufficient, trained resources are available to meet business demands.
- Ensure raw materials are ordered on time, labelled, and stored correctly and current MSDS’s are available.
- Manage receipts and dispatches from the plant.
- Housekeeping – plant & equipment – 5S.
- Support and participation in Lean Six Sigma initiatives, e.g. OEE, TPM, 5S, visual manufacturing.
- Interact closely with the Commercial Department to anticipate and plan for future demand requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with established quality standards by working closely with the Quality Control Team.
- Ensure personnel are trained correctly on equipment and new tasks.
- Monitor and manage employee vacation and attendance, as per policy. Ensure all vacation allocations are taken during the calendar year.
- Communicate performance targets for the plant to the team.
- Identify potential employees with the required competencies and assist manager to develop appropriate succession plans for key roles.
- Conduct regular performance review discussions and coaching sessions with employees.
- Identify training needs and provide appropriate development.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with operating and SH&E procedures.
- Ensure that all employees are kept informed by effective communication.
- Manage basic HR issues in consultation with the Plant Manager.
- Ensure that team members are appropriately recognised and rewarded for their efforts.
- Ensure procedures are provided for and followed by all operations
- Promote continuous improvement.
- Act as role model and provide strong, effective leadership to build a strong and committed team.
