POSITION SUMMARY:
The Planning Manager will report directly to the Routine Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for routine and major maintenance activities within the zone shops. This individual will supervise the Zone Planners and Zone Multi-craft Supervisors in their assigned area of responsibility, work closely with the Area Teams to schedule routine maintenance work, maintain customer satisfaction, and optimize actual spending as compared to the budget.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Supervises one of two maintenance areas overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of routine and major maintenance activities within the Zone Shops.
•Ensures maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with MPC HES&S policies and procedures.
•Ensures compliance with MPC standard practices (RSP-1400), procedures, and established work processes.
•Serves as key member of Garyville's RSP-1400 Workflow Improvement Team.
•Ensure safety related items are properly planned and scheduled for timely completion.
•Ensures all work is executed correctly to maximize efficiency and maintain customer satisfaction.
•Develops and communicates repair timelines for critical equipment undergoing routine and major maintenance work.
•Develops routine and major maintenance non-shut down budget details for their area of responsibility in support of the overall annual Maintenance Department budget.
•Manages and optimizes overall spending within the zone shops and constantly monitors actual spending versus the budget throughout the year.
•Reviews corporate and local KPIs, corrects schedule disruptions, and resolves barriers in each area of their responsibility.
•Oversees backlog management efforts along with the Zone Planners and Multi-craft Supervisors within their area of responsibility. Target backlog should be maintained within 6-8 weeks.
•Provides leadership and professional development guidance to Zone Planners and Multi-craft Supervisors. This includes the performance development process as well as career development process.
•Improves routine maintenance job plan accuracy by tracking actual versus planned man-hours and adjusts when necessary.
•Improves efficient execution of maintenance activities by ensuring aggressive daily/week schedules are not only developed but followed in accordance to the Sites RM Playbook.
•Assists with sharing craft resources throughout the refinery.
•Helps improve work order priorities and allocation of resources when necessary.
•Assists with overtime management to reduce overtime percentages.
•Assists with general contractor workforce development and helps drive efficiency improvements.
•Works directly with the Electrical, Instrument, and Mechanical Craft Specific Supervisors regarding the craft workforce (training, re-works, coaching, etc.).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a refinery setting with relevant experience in the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance work.
•Strong interpersonal leadership and collaboration skills are essential.
•Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance, Meridium, and Prometheus software is preferred.
•A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree is preferred.
•Previous supervisory experience preferred.
•A Driver's License is required.
