Piping Designer

About This Job

We are looking for a Piping Designer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

•

Design complex piping systems for steam injection, production, and water treatment using 3D modeling tools (e.g., SP3D, CADWorx).

•

Choose appropriate pipes, valves, and fittings based on process conditions as per P&ID and piping specifications, complying with ASME B31.3 and CSA Z662 standards.

•

Independently develop 3D models under the piping lead’s guidance, incorporating equipment locations, structural steel, foundations, and cable trays.

•

Work with stress engineers for piping stress analysis to manage thermal expansion/contraction.

•

Generate piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, and bills of materials (BOM) for fabrication and construction.

•

Check 2D drawings and 3D models for clashes and constructability using tools like Navisworks.

•

Provide accurate material take-offs to support project budgets and timelines.

•

Collaborate with field teams to resolve construction conflicts, verify tie-ins, and update as-built drawings.

•

Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., process, structural, electrical) to align designs with contractual specifications.

Qualifications:

•

Completion of a two-year college program in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or three-to-four-year apprentice program in a related field.

•

8 + years experience as a Piping Designer within the Oil and Gas sector.

•

A sound knowledge and experience modelling equipment and piping in 3D CADD applications, specifically SmartPlant 3D (S3D).

•

Able to make basic day-to-day decisions which may involve planning and are well defined by project requirements.

Pay: $50.00-$70.00 per hour
