JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Delta Utilities is seeking a Pipeline Technician who is responsible for advanced technical support, oversight of complex pipeline operations, and mentoring of junior technicians. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for pipeline systems, including the operation, maintenance, and integrity of natural gas infrastructure. The Technician IV leads troubleshooting efforts, ensures regulatory compliance, supports project implementation, and plays a key role in continuous improvement initiatives across the pipeline system.
This position can be hired as a Pipeline Technician II or III, depending on years of experience and qualification.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PIPELINE II:•Perform independent patrols and inspections of pipelines and associated facilities.
•Operate, maintain, and service various types of valves and control equipment.
•Facilitate integrity assessments including direct/indirect inspection and data gathering.
•Monitor third-party excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
•Maintain pipeline marker and valve location records (GPS-based).
•Assist with corrosion and cathodic protection assessments.
•Input and close out work orders in SAP.
•Provide documentation and support for engineering or regulatory audits.
•Perform and complete all Mississippi One Call locates on Mississippi Pipeline Facilities.
PIPELINE III:
•Lead and execute all phases of pipeline integrity digs and assessments.
•Troubleshoot complex system issues including pressure, measurement, and control systems.
•Conduct field evaluations of High Consequence Areas (HCAs) and assess changes in land use.
•Evaluate pipeline defects and direct remediation efforts.
•Train and mentor junior technicians and support staff.
•Conduct inspections of company and contractor field work, ensuring safety and compliance.
•Provide technical input to engineering and assist with project implementation.
•Maintain regulatory documentation and support audits or inspections.
•Perform and complete all Mississippi One Call locates on Mississippi Pipeline Facilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Pipeline Technician II Or III:
•High school diploma or GED required, technical coursework a plus.
Minimum Experience Required Of The Position
•Pipeline Technician II: 2 to 4 years of related pipeline or gas operations experience.
•Pipeline Technician III: 4 to 6 years of progressively responsible pipeline or utility experience.
Pipeline Technician II:
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position
•Working knowledge of pipeline systems and gas transmission operations.
•Proficient in SAP (list editing, work order creation and closure, maintenance plans).
•Able to read and interpret operating maps, sketches, and GIS systems (e.g., ArcMap).
•Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
•Ability to work independently and with contractors in the field.
Pipeline Technician III:
•Advanced understanding of gas pipeline operations, integrity, ROW management, and regulatory compliance.
•Proficiency in GIS mapping (ArcMap), SAP system, and technical documentation.
•Strong leadership and decision-making abilities in field operations.
•Skilled in coordinating with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders.
•Demonstrated ability to manage projects or lead field crews.
Pipeline Technician II:
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
•Valid state driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
•Must complete PHMSA Operator Qualifications and Field Evaluations.
•Ability to obtain NACE CP Tester 1 certification within a reasonable time.
Pipeline Technician III:
•Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
•Completed PHMSA Operator Qualifications and Field Evaluations.
•NACE CP Tester 1 certification or ability to obtain promptly.

•Able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force regularly and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
•Able to exert routine physical effort on a daily basis.
•Physical activities include but are not limited to: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, Crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
