Position Objective:
The Pipeline Technician maintains and operates regulated pipelines assets in and around the Lafayette, LA area including, but not limited to, pipelines, valve manifolds, meters, OPP equipment, Pressure relief equipment, pig launchers and receivers etc.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
•Responsible for applying PHMSA DOT regulatory and monitoring requirements to the maintenance and operation of gas and/or liquid pipeline systems.
•Prepare, archive, update and maintain accurate documentation of pipeline maintenance, inspection and repair activities and other pipeline related information using SAFEPIPE
•Ensure pipeline inspections are completed at correct intervals and are in compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations
•Locate pipelines as needed and oversee excavations and line crossings.
•Install pipeline markers and do routine inspections on ROW.
•Maintain, Inspect and operate corrosion control equipment.
•Monitor activities in and around pipelines and facilities while ensuring the safety, security and cleanliness of pipelines, facilities and equipment.
•Scheduling, coordinating, and inspecting the work of third-party contractors
•Test / Witness calibration of custody transfer measurement equipment
•Launch and receive cleaning pigs and assist with the launch and receiving of smart pigs.
•Assist in coordination and execution of response activities in the event of an incident or emergency
•Interface with various landowners including private, state, and federal agencies.
•Meet requirements of Company Operator Qualification Program, perform identified covered tasks and remain compliant.
•Attend training programs on a continuing basis, including computer-based training and safety training courses as required by Company and regulatory agencies.
•The ability to take call-outs and work overtime is required
•Ability to read pipeline route maps, drawings alignment sheets
•Some travel may be required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Personal Characteristics:
•Knowledge of the general design and operation of a liquid or gas pipeline is required.
•Experience and knowledge of industry related maintenance and repair standards is preferred.
•The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions is required.
•Basic computer skills MS Word, Excel spreadsheets, Google Earth are required.
•Ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
•The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a business like and professional manner is required.
•Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues. Quickly and efficiently completes tasks.
•The ability to demonstrate conscientiousness, dependability and commitment to the role, team and company.
•Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
•Must have ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads.
Minimum Requirements:
•A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
•A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or construction of a hazardous liquid or gas pipeline facility, or a similar facility/system is preferred
•Must live or relocate to within 1 hour of reporting location.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work in an outdoor environment subject to the elements and is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk and listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move materials and tools up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy. The employee is required to climb up and down vertical ladders and climb up and down angled ladders.
The Employee is occasionally required to sit. Employee will work standing and walking on uneven wet slick surfaces. Employee must work ascending and descending into and out of excavations and bell holes. Employee will perform work in wet and muddy conditions.

Pay: $28.85 - $32.00 per hour
