Payroll Technician
Basic Employee Responsibilities
Every Q2 ALS employee is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Position Specific Responsibilities
Payroll Technician is responsible for the administration of benefits & processing of payroll for Canada and the United States. This position ensures the accuracy and timeliness of payroll as well as the strict adherence to provincial, federal, state and local regulations. As this position also interacts with all facets of the company, customer service plays an important role, serving our employees to the best of their ability. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities and works out of Head Office.
Key responsibilities:
•Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates, including:
•Supports the New Hire process by issuing new hire documentation to hiring managers
•Termination of employees including issuing of ROE’s
•Set up and maintain employee files and enter in payroll system
•Process bi-weekly payrolls for both Canadian and USA companies
•Calculate final pay and vacation pays for terminated employees
•Calculate any retro pay, or any corrections from prior pays
•Employee garnishment Maintenance
•Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
•Payroll Account and Month end reconciliations
•Handle day to day employee inquiries
•Various Adhoc reports for managers
•Provide payroll estimates
•Ensures timely follow-through on employee requests affecting their benefit and payroll-related issues
•Acts as payroll liaison for WCB
•Administers Q2’s employee Canadian and US benefits program, which may include RSP/401k plans, leave policies, wellness programs, and insurance policies such as extended health/dental, life, and disability.
Required Minimum Qualifications
•3-5+ years progressive payroll and benefits administration experience in complex multi-national multi-division organization
•Knowledge of Labour Standards, payroll compliance and reporting for Provinces and States Q2 Operates in
•Proven ability to apply best practices in payroll, compliance, and benefit administration
•Exceptional communication, time management and organizational skills
•Ability to work under pressure with tight and changing priorities and deadlines
•Proficient with MS Office Suite, and Automated Systems (Dayforce, BlueCross, Internal Reporting Systems etc)
