Your Opportunity


The primary responsibilities of this position include:

- Support visitor safety and accident reduction through positive and educational interactions with guests

- Promote the Alpine Responsibility Code

- Proactively monitor for hazards and poor surface conditions on all trails/runs and surrounding areas

- Inspect all rescue equipment and vehicles prior to start of shift

- Inspect all medical equipment, kits, and supplies prior to start of shift

- Conduct opening hill sweep, slope inspection, and daily placement of signage and fencing

- Complete daily slope inspection reporting

- Coordinate Senior, Junior, and Volunteer Patrollers to ensure adequate coverage of skiable area

- Respond to incidents and provide First Aid and other support where required

- Review incident documentation completed by staff to ensure it is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner

- Assist in risk management/incident investigations as required

- Conduct closing hill sweep, including signage, fencing, and ensuring all guests and staff have descended safely

- Work in a team environment and support other departments as required

- Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.

- Other duties as assigned


Your Qualifications

- Availability:

- Minimum average of 15 hours per two-week pay period

- Able to attend pre-season training – approx. 35 to 40 hours between September and December

- Minimum one year experience as a Senior Patroller or equivalent work experience

- Must be an intermediate to advanced level skier or snowboarder

- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written documentation skills are essential

- Ability to enforce policies and procedures in a professional manner

- Successful candidates must provide their Ski/Snowboard equipment including Skis/Snowboard, boots, Poles, Helmet Uniform will be provided (to be returned end of season)*

- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on varied terrain.

- Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time

- A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G2”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. Abstract completed by Conservation Halton*. - Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.* - Successful candidates must provide their own DOT approved helmet. Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.*

- Successful candidates will be required to have Red Cross First Responder certification prior to first day of employment or complete training provided by Conservation Halton.

- Training course provided by CH is available starting September 3, 2025 to November 19, 2025 every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm

- CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.
