About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a Panel Operator for the Thermal Integrated Control Center in Lloydminster. The role involves operating the facility safely and effectively, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining performance to meet production targets. The Panel Operator will also support maintenance activities, provide training to new employees, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Work Environment:

- This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.

- Work schedule is comprised of a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights including working weekends/stat holidays (7 on/7 off).

What you’ll do:

- Obtain sign-off for various control room positions based on business needs and provide coverage to ensure operational continuity.

- Complete required training and demonstrate competency in facility operations prior to control operator sign-off.

- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot control systems to optimize performance and achieve production goals per Company standards.

- Participate in alarm management, alarm rationalization, and other control room initiatives.

- Maintain accurate panel operation records, including volume balances, log sheets, work permits, and required reports.

- Facilitate maintenance activities aligned with the site’s operating philosophy and clearly communicate Company requirements, policies, and practices to on-site maintenance personnel.

- Provide assistance, coaching, on-the-job training, and assessments to new team members as required, as well as comply with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this position's responsibilities.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

- Legally authorized to work in Canada.

- Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate or significant progress towards completing a 2nd Class certification.

- At least 5 years' background in the oil and gas sector, with a preference for SAGD operations.

- Familiarity with associated processes, systems, and control system operations is also beneficial.

- Experience in the operation of steam generating equipment, control panel, oil processing and/or well equipment and associated process and systems is an asset.

- Strong understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
