Job Summary:
Under supervision of the Production Manager the Utility Operator will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the manufacturing of cement.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Perform pre-shift area and equipment inspections daily for safety, maintenance, and housekeeping correcting problems as needed using best judgement or communicating with the correct department for repair.
•Make daily rounds to inspect and document machinery status.
•Operate equipment including, but not limited to the Roller Mills, Kilns, Coolers, and Finish Mills.
•Monitor all equipment in the plant such as temperatures, pressures and amp gauges interpreting gauges, charts and instruments to correctly adjust as necessary.
•Operate equipment such as front-end loaders, bobcat, fork truck, jack hammer, power tools, and hand tools necessary to maintain operations.
•Fosters a positive work environment and promotes teamwork.
•Support and maintain the plant safety program through day-to-day safety contacts with employees, holding department toolbox talks, inspect work areas, conditions and requirements are observed and comply with company safety standards.
•Responsible for using and maintaining daily logs, communication book, maintenance requests and daily shift logs.
•Always maintains work area equipment in a safe and clean condition.
•Responsible for abiding by and supporting all company and plant safety policies, rules and procedures as well as complying with MSHA/OSHA regulations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Ability to work with minimum supervision
•Ability to work rotating shifts and extended hours
•Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
•Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Education/Experience:
•High School Diploma or Equivalent required
•Prior experience with rotating shift work is preferred
•Prior industry experience preferred
