POSITION SUMMARY:

The position reports directly to the Field Operations Supervisor for the operation and maintenance of utility storage, pumping facilities, and distribution system. Duties include supervising helpers, assisting in water line repairs, metering services, collecting samples, locating water lines, and maintaining required reports for the operational control of the distribution system.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Performs mechanical tasks in the repair, adjustment, and maintenance of the Pump Stations and Distribution System.

- Conducts regular inspections, performs preventative maintenance on equipment, and turns in documentation to the office on such.

- Maintains records on monitoring daily chlorine residuals.

- Installs new water lines and meters for customer service.

- Reports and repairs line breaks in a timely manner.

- Investigates leaks and makes repairs as necessary.

- Must be available on call 24 hours as scheduled by the Operations Foreman.

- Maintenance of all facilities.

- Submit accurate time reports to the Operations Foreman as directed.

- Must be able to work in all types of weather.

- Must work well with fellow employees and contractors.

- Must be able to take directions from supervisors.

- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years in water distribution. Requires Class “C” Water license and CDL. Must be able to operate tractors and heavy equipment. Must have a clean driving record.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Knowledge of processes and equipment involved in water distribution systems.

- Understanding of operational and administrative practices and procedures involved in water distribution systems.

- Ability to prepare reports and maintains operational/equipment logs and records.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with other employees.

- Ability to keep vehicles and work areas clean and orderly.

- Maintain adequate inventory of materials on hand.

License/Certification:

- Class C Water Distribution License (Required)

- CDL (Required)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
