JOB SUMMARY
At Benchmade, craftsmanship is at our core, and so is continuous learning. We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Operations Training Specialist to design, deliver, and manage high-impact training experiences that support skill development and operational excellence across our Operations Teams. In this highly collaborative role, you will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), HR, and OD teams to create engaging, effective, and scalable learning solutions using adult learning principles and modern learning technologies. You'll also play a key role in maintaining our Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring compliance, content governance, and alignment with Operational goals.
JOB FUNCTIONS
•Partner with HR, Organizational Development, and functional leaders to assess training needs and develop strategic, role-specific learning plans.
•Conduct skills gap analyses and collaborate with department leads across production, maintenance, quality, and support functions to identify training priorities.
•Design, develop, and implement technical training programs using adult learning theory, SCORM-compliant modules, and learner-centric methodologies.
•Coordinate and deliver onboarding, safety, equipment operation, compliance, and job-specific technical training for both factory and corporate team members.
•Collaborate with subject matter experts and administrators to translate complex technical knowledge into clear, engaging content and practical tools that enhance job performance.
•Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions with energy, clarity, and professionalism.
•Maintain and continuously update training materials to ensure accessibility, accuracy, and alignment with current processes and regulatory standards.
•Manage Learning Management System (LMS) functionality and governance, including course uploads, reporting, compliance tracking, and content lifecycle maintenance.
•Maintain accurate training records, SOPs, and documentation in accordance with document control policies and learning management best practices.
•Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, outcomes analysis, and continuous improvement tools to drive better learning and operational performance.
•Support cross-training and upskilling initiatives to promote workforce flexibility, resilience, and development across departments.
•Coordinate external training resources, including vendor-led, OEM, or third-party training for specialized equipment and compliance requirements.
•Integrate training initiatives with lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, and other continuous improvement programs to drive operational excellence.
•Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, and other regulatory or industry standards through appropriate training programs and documentation
•Foster a culture of continuous learning, safety, quality, and professional growth by promoting development resources and training opportunities across Operations.
•Demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills to effectively plan, implement, and monitor multiple training initiatives.
•Communicate complex concepts in simple, actionable terms to support knowledge transfer and practical application on the factory floor.
QUALIFICATIONS
•3+ years of experience in training, instructional design, production leadership, or a related field.
•Proficiency with instructional design tools (Articulate, Adobe Captivate, or similar) and SCORM development.
•Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Docebo, LearnUpon, or equivalent).
•Strong collaboration and communication skills; proven ability to work cross-functionally with SMEs and teams.
•Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, effective training in both classroom and virtual settings.
•Intermediate knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office 365
•Perform special projects and other related duties, as assigned
Preferred:
•Experience in a manufacturing, production, or technical environment.
•Knowledge of adult learning theory and blended learning models.
•Familiarity with document control systems (Unipoint), ERP (Syspro).
•Familiarity with LMS governance best practices.
•Bachelor’s degree in education, HR, Instructional Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
WORKING CONDITIONS
•Primarily on-site role with occasional remote or virtual facilitation.
•Regular interaction with production floor and technical environments (PPE may be required).
•May occasionally lift to 25 lbs. or conduct hands-on demos.
•Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, with some flexibility to support multiple shifts or special events
