Orano Canada is a leading producer of uranium in Canada, working to power the future with clean energy!
The Operational Excellence Specialist will be a driving force behind our commitment to continuous improvement! In this role, you’ll lead the implementation of Operational Excellence (OE) tools and techniques, empowering teams to enhance performance through effective KPIs, 5S methodologies, and visual management. You will help identify key areas for improvement, develop actionable plans and foster a culture of excellence. You’ll work directly with colleagues at all levels of the organization and coach them in performance strategies. Responsibilities include:
•Lead implementation of Operational Excellence tools and techniques, support their ongoing use, and quantify their results (e.g. 5S, problem solving, KPIs, Pareto, Manager-in-the-field, visual management)
•Effectively facilitate problem solving group sessions
•Identify or create key performance indicators which measure performance and drive improvement
•Identifying areas for improvement and developing action plans to move forward
•Actively engaging with individuals to promote OE strategies, tactics and tools
•Participate in the identification of customer needs for various site groups
•Train, implement and coach use of performance tools according to problems encountered.
•Provide in-field OE support to other individuals and groups
•Continually improve business flexibility and adaptability based on customer needs
•Generating necessary reports and presentations
•Liaise with multiple levels of the organization
•Comply with Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures.
•Assisting the Operational Excellence (OE) Manager with developing and overseeing the Operational Excellence Program
•Participate in OE planning and decision making processes

Ideal qualifications
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
•Preference will be given to applicants who possess certifications/credentials in Lean or Six Sigma
•Professional experience of at least 5 to 10 years in Production, OE or consulting
•A combination of work experience and education will be considered; an Engineering degree is preferred
o For degree holders, must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS
•Familiarity with Operational Excellence tools (5S, MVP, L6S, etc.)
•Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Minitab, etc.)
•High sense of accountability and good communication skills
•Self-motivated and possess excellent organizational skills
•Experience working with various groups or departments
•Ability to productively engage with multi-disciplined groups
•Results oriented and willing to work in a dynamic site operational environment
