Position Overview:
Atma Energy is seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician to join our team. This individual will be responsible for performing inspections, testing, and maintenance of solar energy systems, ensuring that all systems are operating within manufacturer specifications and optimal performance levels. As a key member of our O&M crew, you will conduct system assessments and document your findings in comprehensive reports for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Panel Cleaning:
•Perform thorough cleaning of solar modules using approved cleaning agents and water provided by homeowners.
•Remove debris such as dust, pollen, bird droppings, etc., to maintain maximum energy production.
Thermographic System Assessment:
•Utilize high-resolution thermographic cameras to capture infrared images of the entire solar array.
•Identify potential issues such as hotspots, mismatched strings, and diode failures not visible to the naked eye.
Electrical Integrity Testing:
•Conduct comprehensive tests on key electrical components such as AC disconnect wiring, combiner bus connections, breakers, and protective devices.
•Verify wiring tightness and continuity to ensure proper function within manufacturer specifications.
Anomaly Highlighting:
•Detect and document any anomalies like overheating, loose connections, or corrosion using thermal imaging.
•Provide detailed annotations and recommendations for corrective actions.
Final System Status Report:
•Summarize the inspection results, including system status:
•“All parameters within normal operating ranges” or
•A list of abnormalities with corrective actions and priority levels.
O&M Crew Inspection:
•Capture required photos of system components (e.g., system controller, panels, battery disconnect, thermal images of breakers).
•Perform wire verification to ensure all connections are secure and correctly landed.
Required Qualifications:
•Experience in solar energy systems and/or electrical work (prior experience in O&M is preferred).
•Familiarity with thermographic systems and their use in diagnostics.
•Knowledge of electrical integrity testing and basic understanding of solar energy components.
•Strong attention to detail and ability to document observations accurately.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team in diverse weather conditions.
•Reliable, responsible, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
•Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
