Magnolia Power LLC is developing a new, start-of-the-art combined cycle power generating facility in Iberville Parish. The 700 MW generating station will use General Electric’s 7HA.03 advanced-class gas turbine in a one-on-one combined cycle configuration to provide best-in-class efficiency and emissions. The construction phase will be completed by the end of Fall 2025 and will move to commercial operations in the Winter 2025. We are now hiring qualified individuals with a priority focus on safety and environmental to support the operations and maintenance at Magnolia Power.
Job Overview:
In a safe manner the O&M Tech III will monitor and inspect assigned plant equipment including gas/steam turbines, generators, boilers/heat recovery steam generator (HRSGs), transformers, pumps, condensers, switchyard and related auxiliary equipment, and operate local controls and devices for proper plant operation.
- Perform equipment checks to ensure safe and efficient operations during the start-up, operation and shutdown of turbines, generators, condensers, boilers/heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), boiler feed pumps, exciters, transformers, switchyard and auxiliary equipment. Operate valves, pumps, electrical disconnects, breakers and controls, etc. from remote locations as needed.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and show strong leadership in safe and healthy work behaviors and environmental stewardship. Adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injury, illness and environmental noncompliance.
- Monitor and respond to alarms and unusual conditions to ensure proper operation of equipment within established standards and reports irregular and abnormal operating conditions to supervision.
- Maintain and monitor basic boiler water chemistry and other plant cycle chemistry by reviewing operational data and collecting and analyzing samples. Maintain and operate the water treatment plant. Analyze data such as chemical test results, conductivity, pH, flow and temperature readings, etc. and make appropriate adjustments.
- Monitor, inspect, install, remove, test, adjust, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, instrumentation and plant controls systems and components. Conduct electrical system interlock and circuit breaker trip checks to determine proper operational performance. Perform control system monitoring using a computer interface terminal.
- Perform mechanical maintenance work including, dismantling, rebuilding, adjusting, aligning, packing and cleaning equipment. Repair valves, actuators, piping, and small pumps such as centrifugal, sump diaphram, etc. Assist with the repair of rotating equipment. Operate welding machine and gas torch to cut, heat, braze and make tack and temporary welds, etc
- Perform predictive and preventive maintenance work by inspecting, monitoring, lubricating, troubleshooting and testing plant equipment to determine conditions such as wear, corrosion and deposits. Perform inspections and corrective maintenance activities on plant equipment and components. Conduct chemical tests and inspections to ensure proper operation of the plant.
- Use work management systems to initiate, retrieve and update work orders, material requests, PM’s and time entry, etc. Use various computer applications and software programs such as PI to extract data, analyze trends and report status to ensure plant reliability and efficiency. Produce, revise and maintain records, technical reports, procedures and plant drawings as required.
- Operate, monitor, maintain and calibrate environmental and industrial hygiene equipment such as CEMS, noise and gas detection devices, etc. in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Collect and analyze air, gas, water and chemicals samples.
- Direct and assist the work of assigned employees and contractors as required. Conduct JSAs, utilize JHAs, MSDSs, etc. and follow established plant and company guidelines in job briefings.
- Obtain LOTO clearance permits and ensure that equipment is properly cleared and tagged before work begins in accordance with MPG Clearance Permit Procedure. Isolate plant equipment and remove stored energy in accordance with MPG Clearance Permit Procedure. Obtain hot work and confined space permits in accordance with MPG policies to complete work safely.
- Issue Safe Work Permits (JSA), Electrical Safe Work Permits, LOTO clearance permits, Grounding Permits, Confined Space Permits and Hoto Work Permits
- Provide Leadership and Guidance to O&M Tech I & O&M Tech II.
- Qualified Control Room Board Operator.
- Complete assigned Operator Qualification Cards.

- Physical requirements include standing on feet for extended periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high-voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
- Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts, with the possibility of weekend and holiday work; as required by schedules, work load, and Plant conditions.
- All employees will participate in the Fitness-for-Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
- A minimum of 12 to 18 months of power plant experience in operations, maintenance, electrical, instrumentation and controls in gas turbine/HRSG systems.
- A two-year Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies, Industrial Engineering Technology is a plus
- Must have completed and passed internal qualification assessment for a O&M Tech III
- Must be able to read, interpret and work from prints and specifications.
- Must possess the appropriate State driver’s license.
