Description
The O&M Maintenance Technician position supports plant operations through repair, installation, adjustment, and/or maintenance of site equipment to ensure safety and optimal plant production. This includes planned or emergency maintenance in compliance with all safety requirements, laws, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities Mechanical Support
- Ensures proper operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications and troubleshooting guidance.
- Completes mechanical equipment rounds, collection and submittal of the oil samples, and site mechanical documentation.
- Repairs and maintains all site mechanical equipment, piping systems, and/or rolling equipment.
- Assists in the troubleshooting and replacement of electrical components.
- Disassembles and reassembles machinery and equipment for inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Uses manufacturers' manuals and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Utilize the plant maintenance program (CMMS) to record parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
- Routinely monitors, inspects, and verifies compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Work with and provide support to outside technical vendors during maintenance evolutions.
- Maintain or increase technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and/or establishing personal networks.
- Follow the plant maintenance program specifications and procedures.
- High School diploma or its equivalent.
- 5 or more years of related mechanical experience. One or more years of experience in power plant or geothermal operations preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to work a 8-hour x 5 days or a 10-hour x 4 days standard work schedule. Overtime may be required to meet plant and outage demands.
- Able to read Piping and Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), draw simple single-line diagrams of plant equipment or systems, including pressure, temperature, and flow instrumentation.
- Knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including proficient or higher understanding of various pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, air-coolers, lubrication, and compressed air systems.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, while demonstrating responsible behavior and attention to detail
- Ability to enter confined areas and enter difficult-to-access areas.
- Ability to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Ability to reach with hand and arms.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk moderate distances, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to tolerate remote environments, indoor /outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern CA, NV, and UT.
- Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights.
