Magnolia Power LLC is developing a new, start-of-the-art combined cycle power generating facility in Iberville Parish. The 700 MW generating station will use General Electric’s 7HA.03 advanced-class gas turbine in a one-on-one combined cycle configuration to provide best-in-class efficiency and emissions. The construction phase will be completed by the end of Fall 2025 and will move to commercial operations in the Winter 2025. We are now hiring qualified individuals with a priority focus on safety and environmental to support the operations and maintenance at Magnolia Power.
Job Overview:
The O&M Tech II will assist in the safe and efficient operation of the Plant by performing moderately skilled work in the checking, inspecting, repair, maintenance, installation and construction of plant equipment and structures.
- Assist in performing equipment checks to ensure safe and efficient operations during the start-up, operation and shutdown of turbines, generators, condensers, boilers/heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), boiler feed pumps, exciters, transformers, switchyard and auxiliary equipment. Operate valves, pumps, electrical disconnects, breakers and controls, etc. from remote locations as needed.
- Adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injury, illness and environmental noncompliance. Observe and comply with governmental and company environmental, safety and health regulations.
- Monitor and respond to alarms and unusual conditions to ensure proper operation of equipment within established standards and reports irregular and abnormal operating conditions to supervision.
- Maintain and monitor basic boiler water chemistry and other plant cycle chemistry by reviewing operational data and collecting and analyzing samples. Maintain and operate the water treatment plant and associated equipment.
- Assist in monitoring, inspecting, installing, removing, testing, adjusting, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing electrical, electronic, instrumentation and plant controls systems and components. Conduct simple electrical system interlock and circuit breaker trip checks to determine proper operational performance.
- Perform minor mechanical maintenance work including, dismantling, rebuilding, adjusting, aligning, packing and cleaning equipment. Assist with repair of rotating equipment, valves, actuators, piping, etc. Operate welding machine and gas torch to cut, heat, braze and make tack and temporary welds, etc.
- Assist in performing predictive and preventive maintenance work by inspecting, monitoring, lubricating, troubleshooting and testing plant equipment to determine conditions such as wear, corrosion and deposits. Perform inspections and corrective maintenance activities on plant equipment and components.
- Use work management systems to initiate, retrieve and update work orders, material requests, PM’s and time entry, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Physical requirements include standing on feet for extended periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high-voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
- Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts, with the possibility of weekend and holiday work; as required by schedules, work load, and Plant conditions.
- All employees will participate in the Fitness-for-Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
- A minimum of 6 to 12 months of power plant experience in operations, maintenance, electrical, instrumentation and controls in gas turbine/HRSG systems and a high school degree.
- A two-year Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies, Industrial Engineering Technology is a plus
- Must be able to read, interpret and work from prints and specifications.
- Must possess the appropriate State driver’s license.
