Great Lakes Wellhead, Inc. is seeking an experienced, hand-on Service Manager to lead our Ohio-based field service operations. This role is critical to ensuring service excellence, technical accuracy, and effective coordination of our service technicians. In addition to managing day-to day operations, the Service Manger is responsible for auditing field service tickets, (FST's).
This position requires real-time decision-making, after-hours availability, and the ability to step into field support roles when needed. The successful candidate will lead with confidence, hold employees accountable with fairness, and build loyalty through mentorship and technical leadership.
Must be willing to learn all phases of Field Service Manger job duties which include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise and lead the Ohio service team, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, scheduling, performance management, and corrective action when necessary
- Review customer work scopes and field service tickets, (FST's), to ensure proper execution, documentation accuracy and adherence to customer-specific procedures
- Assign qualified service technicians based on certifications, job scope and experience level
- Coordinate job preparation: tools, spares, rental equipment, logistics, and backup planning to avoid downtime
- Conduct and document Jos Assessment Meetings, (JAMs); communicate job plans, equipment requirements, and customer expectations with service teams
- Audit time entries, GPS tracking logs, and FST documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Serve as a hands-on technical lead during escalated jobs, high-profile customers, or technician absenses
- Recognize technician fatique and proactively work with leadership to rebalance workloads or supplement crews as needed
- Support and enforce company standards regarding safety, service quality and field professionalism
- Occasional travel to customer locations, vendor facilities, or other GLW Branch locations is expected

- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degree preferred
- 5-10 years of experience in wellhead service, valve installation, or related oilfield roles
- Prior supervisory experience managing field teams in dynamic environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead field operations, manage conflict, and represent the company in a professional manner
- Forklift Certification

- DOT Compliance Certification
- API 6A Cerification or Proficiency, including: Material trim classifications; PSL (Product Specification Levels); PR (Performance Rating) categories; Wild Well Control School (Supervisor Level); SafeLandUSA or equivalent; H2S Awarness; First Aid/CPR; PEC Core Compliance or equivalent site credentialing
- Expertise in wellhead and pressure control equipment, including API 6A applications, flange identification, and high-pressure assemblies
- Deep knowledge of plug valves, gate valves, ball valves, and distinctions across models and use cases
- Strong ability to troubleshoot equipment, guide repairs, and train others on field maintenance best practices
- Proven experience in minimizing job prep delays and ensuring fast, efficient turnarounds between service calls
- Comfortable enforcing timekeeping and ticket accuracy while mentoring techs for long-term growth
- Clear communicator with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Highly organized, self-driven, and calm under pressure - even in harsh field conditions
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Google Sheets, Docs, Excel, Word)
- Must be available for extended hours, weekend calls, or late-night dispatch needs, especially during peak seasons
- Expected to go into the field and assist personally when needed, regardless of conditions - cold, heat, snow, rain
- Must maintain reliable cell phone service to ensure continuous communication and responsiveness
