Position Summary
This position is responsible for developing ALARA work plans, Radiation Work Permits, administrative controls and specific RP instructions for plant personnel to ensure safe and efficient execution of work plans in accordance with AD-RP-ALL-9000, ALARA Planning procedures, the station UFSAR, Technical Specification, and industry best practices. This position is responsible for tracking on-line and outage dose for various activities, interfacing with work groups to ensure plans are followed and administration of the long-range dose reduction programs at Nuclear Generating Stations.
Responsibilities
•Generate detailed RP execution and ALARA plans/packages for assigned activities.
•Perform ALARA dose estimates for individual jobs/tasks, track and report exposures and capture lessons learned.
•Conduct ALARA pre-job briefings and post job reviews.
•Prepare routine and special exposure reports.10 %
•Develop, design and determine time saving tooling and work methods. Perform cost benefit analysis to justify proposals.
•Design radiation shielding installations. Generate temporary shielding requests (TSRs) and provide shielding installation guidance and oversight.
•Monitor in-plant source term (hot spots, significant dose contributors, etc.) and implement methods to reduce and/or eliminate.
•Perform assessments, corrective actions, and benchmarks with regards to ALARA processes and practices.
•Implement fleet and industry best practices.
•Propose plant changes that improve station and personnel efficiency and reduce exposures.
•Support Station ALARA Committee.
•Represent Station RP at industry forums.
•Support the Emergency Response Organization (ERO)
Required/Basic Qualifications
•5 years related work experience
•In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 5 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 10 year(s) related work experience
Desired Qualifications
•Bachelors degree in Nuclear Physics
•In addition to desired degree, 5 years related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
•Microsoft Office Products, including EXCEL
•Self-motivated with a strong job ownership and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•Experience with nuclear work management processes
Working Conditions
•On occasion, individual will be exposed to noise, cold and hot environments, and other conditions related to working in an industrial setting.
Specific Requirements
•5 years of Radiation Protection experience in commercial nuclear power or a combination of prior experience in a related technical field
•Considered Technical Experience: DOE or Naval Nuclear programs in the field of Radiation Protection.
