The ideal candidate will have a welding certificate from a specialty school and experience working with carbon steel. You’ll play a key role in configuring an efficient operation from the ground up.
- Receive, understand, and execute work instructions, following proper welding procedures.
- Move materials to and from the work area, and move welding equipment as necessary.
- Position components on fixtures, tables, forklifts, or cranes, and tack weld when required.
- Perform welding at various positions (ground level, above ground, below ground) as needed.
- Assist with other shop functions as needed, including:
- Cleaning and coating assemblies
- Operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment
- Conducting dimensional layouts and stock management
- Loading and unloading materials
- Proficiency in GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding).
- Experience with carbon steel and structural steel welding.
- Ability to weld vertical and flat welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards.
- Basic knowledge of weld symbols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints (preferred).
- Ability to read and use tape measures, angle finders, and other measuring tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual tasks.
- Ability to operate various shop tools and equipment.
- Must be safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
