- Position Summary
The Night Shift Forklift Operator/Parts Runner is responsible for supporting efficient production flow by performing both material handling and production-related tasks. This hybrid role includes operating forklifts to move and stage materials, as well as operating machinery or assembling components (as needed) in accordance with established standards for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The position requires attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to meet production requirements.
- Operate forklifts and related equipment safely to transport raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Retrieve and deliver materials from the warehouse to production lines.
- Assist with loading coils, staging materials, and supplying required dunnage.
- Return unused materials to inventory and transport scrap tubs and finished parts.
- Move tooling and dies between Stamping and Tool Maintenance departments.
- Maintain lube storage areas and proactively stage supplies to minimize downtime.
- Operate assigned machinery or perform assembly of components according to documented work instructions.
- Record production data accurately in the PLEX system to support reporting and traceability.
- Assist production leads and supervisors with setup, scheduling, and production flow requirements.
- Complete all required documentation, charting, and quality checks in compliance with customer and company standards.
- Collaborate with the Quality Department to ensure conformity of products to specifications.
- Follow company policies, environmental regulations, and established quality procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with 5S principles.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for improved efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs.
- Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and walking throughout the shift.
- Requires mobility to move freely across the production floor.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and metal particles in a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and reaction time required.
- Use of PPE is mandatory.
- Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience:
o Previous material handling and forklift operation preferred.
o Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Certifications: Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Work Schedule
- Night Shift: Sunday to Wednesday, 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM (overtime as required).
