Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Principal Surveyor to join our team. The Principal Surveyor will establish and maintain standards for survey across NGM ensuring appropriate consistent and accurate spatial data, The successful candidate will provide technical oversite of survey and spatial data functions across the operations.

Responsibilities
•Performs activities essential to the accurate measurement of areas and volumes mined, plus the precise representation of the surface and underground situation on mining plans. Is a subject matter expert in relation to survey both Surface and Underground.
•Technical oversite and guidance of all underground and surface survey operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
•Establish and maintain survey standards and practices across NGM
•Ensure survey equipment in use across the group is appropriate, maintained and calibrated with registers of assets.
•Support the site teams to plan and execute complex survey projects, including primary control traverses, raise bore drill alignments, and level-to-level surveys.
•Ensure accurate survey control networks are maintained with precision and data integrity across all mining operations.
•Develop the survey teams including input to succession planning, progression and providing training and professional development opportunities.
•Collaborate with technical teams to align survey activities with production and project requirements.
•Conduct quality control checks on survey data and ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
•Deliver larger project workstreams, carrying out specified project activities within defined time and quality parameters and ensuring adherence to the prescribed project management methodology
•Correlate and oversee the various sources of spatial data and make recommendations for the collection use and coordination of data
•Active engagement with all internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of survey requirements and practices including but not limited to operational teams, projects, exploration, tailings and Heap leach, lands, and environmental
•Ensure survey practice, control, documentation, and data management meets or exceeds all regulatory and Barrick standards
•Stay current with survey practice and technology including evaluating, piloting and implementing improvements to the business
•Initiate and support work to rectify survey errors and or improve the quality of spatial data across the operations
•Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related field required
•Ten (10) years’ experience in mining survey including both surface and Underground operations preferred
•Strong knowledge of surveying principles and practices in mining, and engineering construction required
•Proficient in mining survey software and Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
