Network and computer systems administrators install, maintain, and support an organization's computer systems and networks, including servers, hardware, and software, to ensure efficient and secure operation. Their duties involve tasks such as installing network hardware and software, performing data backups, troubleshooting problems, monitoring system performance, managing security, and adding and training new users.
- Maintaining computer networks and systems including software, mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware
- Installing and configuring network equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues
- Updating virus protection software to keep data and communications protected
- Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for computer systems and networks
- Communicating networking issues to other employees and management, especially in training new users
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve software, hardware and other network and system problems.
- Other duties as assigned
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Network Administration or a related degree in Computer Engineering or a specialized Network Administration degree.
Experience: 5 – 10 years or work-related experience in network administration. SonicWALL appliances or other applicable hardware firewalls. General firewall knowledge.
- A strong understanding of network hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), and network monitoring tools.
- Strong understanding of standard networking stack: Network+, Cisco or other networking certifications is a plus.- Setting up and maintaining a Terminal Server, experience in VPN and remote app deployment.
- Cloud experience, particularly with cloud migration.
- The ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Clear communication skills to interact with users, colleagues, and leadership.
- A meticulous approach to tasks to prevent errors and ensure smooth system operation
