Natural Gas Storage Operator - Hussar, Alberta

The purpose of this document is to outline the basic role and responsibilities of a Natural Gas Plant and Field Operator for the Countess Natural Gas Storage facility and the associated reporting structure. It is not the intent of this document to specify all duties associated with the position, but to give a general understanding of the expectations and capabilities the position carries.

This is a safety sensitive position with Rockpoint Gas Storage.

Position Description:

Reporting directly to the AECO Superintendent of Operations, the Employee will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Gas Storage and field facilities.

Employees must live within one hour radius of the Countess facility, which is located near Hussar, Alberta.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

- Operate equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner.

- Troubleshoot and repair problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.

- Monitor and control plant and field processing conditions utilizing SCADA control systems.

- Monitor and optimize gas well and pipeline operations.

- Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant, field, and control room areas.

- Responsible for minor maintenance and the coordination of other maintenance activities.

- Understands and performs safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lockout, emergency response, implement safe work procedures, etc.

- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulatory requirements. Responsible for corrective action if required.

- Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance, and management staff.

- Maintain proper documentation including operator log, maintenance records, and safety and environment reports.

- Ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site-specific training, process training, Solis training, etc.

- Willing to work extra hours and be on call as required.

Qualifications / Requirements:

- must currently reside within one hour of the plant site

- self-motivated, hands-on person

- grade 12 diploma

- Valid class 5 driver license

- Must be able to work on call shifts and weekends when part of regular shift rotation.

- 3+ years gas plant processing and compressor operating experience or equivalent.

- Demonstrated ability to learn new process, operations and have strong problem-solving skills.

- Operational and maintenance experience in gas compression, dehydration, pipelines, gas well equipment and hydrocarbon dewpoint control equipment.

- A basic understanding of well performance and reservoir behavior.

- Team player with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.

- Ability and confidence to work with minimal supervision.

- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and is open to take on a variety of operational challenges.

- Proficient in the use of PC programs specifically in Word, Excel, PVR and Outlook.

The work schedule may vary depending on operational needs. A company truck will be provided.

Physical Requirements in the role:

- Must be able to work a 10-hour shift and be available to work an 8 on, 6 off rotation.

- Must be willing to work in warm and cold climate conditions when necessary

- Must be able to comfortably climb ladders and stairs and work at heights

- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

- Must be able to work in confined spaces for up to one hour at a time

- Must be able to work with hands below knees and or above shoulders for short periods of time up to 10 minutes
