SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Natural Gas Specialist is knowledgeable in all operational activities within Gas Supply; this includes identifying and executing natural gas related transactions to procure natural gas to meet SaskEnergy’s load requirements. The Specialist provides operational guidance and support for Gas Supply functions such as monthly gas allocations, inventory management, contracting and the Gas Retailer service.
Position Details•Non-union. This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities
•Initiate and execute the commodity procurement and sales activities for the Local Distribution Company (LDC), ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market conditions.
•Analyze contract industrial customers' supply, storage and transportation needs and provide recommendations to the Commodity Manager to enhance customer satisfaction.
•Analyze market trends and regulatory changes to identify optimal gas procurement strategies for SaskEnergy's portfolio.
•Serve as the subject matter expert in the Western Canada natural gas market intelligence and identify opportunities to increase profitability.
•Support and streamline the overall Gas Retailer service including facilitating load forecasting and determining supply and storage requirements.
•Support SaskEnergy's storage and transportation contracting functions, including forecasting transportation demand and securing optimal transportation contracts.
•Support the monthly gas allocations process and the monthly settlement process for purchase and sale transactions, ensuring compliance and timeliness.
•Initiate, plan and facilitate continuous improvement projects in areas such as nominations, allocations, forecasting, etc., to increase operational effectiveness and performance.
•Provide expert knowledge and support for the gas management system and collaborate with different user groups to ensure effective testing and enhancements for Gas Supply.
•Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
•Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or a related field.
•Eight (8) years of work experience in natural gas markets.
•Knowledge of natural gas markets, pricing, supply and demand, and trading.
•Highly collaborative; interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to build, manage and foster relationships both across the organization and with external parties.
•Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
•Ability to impact and influence others.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to work and manage in a changing environment.
•Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information•Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
•A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
