Job Title: Mobile Fuel Technician (Diesel Fueler)
Pay Rate: $18 - $23 per hour Schedule: 8 to 14 hours per day (Full-time) Location: Various Job Sites in the oilfield
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Mobile Fuel Technician to deliver and pump diesel fuel into equipment and machinery across multiple job sites. This position requires daily operation of a pickup fuel truck and involves fueling equipment, and generators. A basic background in diesel mechanics is preferred, as light troubleshooting and minor mechanical assistance may be needed in the field.
- Drive a fuel truck to various job sites and safely refuel equipment and machinery
- Maintain accurate logs of fuel dispensed and equipment serviced
- Perform visual inspections of equipment during fueling and report any issues
- Assist with basic mechanical troubleshooting (e.g., checking fuel filters, diagnosing no-starts, priming systems)
- Communicate with site supervisors about fueling needs and equipment status
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, EPA, and site-specific safety regulations
- Conduct routine checks and light maintenance on fueling equipment and truck
- Work independently in varying weather and site conditions for extended hours
- No formal responsibility for supervising others.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus but not always required)
- Clean driving record
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, and mechanical components
- Previous experience in fueling, trucking, or equipment maintenance preferred
- Ability to work long hours (8–14 hours/day)
- Physically capable of lifting hoses and navigating active job sites
- Strong attention to detail and safety procedures
· High School graduate or GED equivalent, supplemented with technical/mechanical classes.
· Minimum two (2) years of experience in the oil and gas industry preferred.
· Oil and gas production experience is preferred.
· Travel in CO, NE, WY and surrounding areas.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:
- Occasionally in an office environment.
- Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, hand tools and small to medium-sized power tool use.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- Regularly exposed to non-toxic propane fumes or airborne particles.
- Regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
This position is required to be performed at the work site during regularly scheduled hours. Physical presence at the work site is required.
The employee must frequently position, transport, and/or move up to fifty-five (55) or more pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, move across large areas, including uneven terrain, sometimes quickly. Be stationary for long periods of time. Work in confined or restrictive working spaces. Use fingers and/or hands to handle and feel. Reach with hands and arms above the head and to ground level. Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or otherwise reach into confined spaces. Push and pull material and equipment from one place to another. Communicate with and exchange information verbally and in writing. Operate a motorized vehicle during the work shift. Work using repetitive motion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work requires physical efforts associated with using the computer and phones to access information.
The Mobile Fuel Technician reports directly and is accountable to the Rental Supervisor.
