Position: Mobile Equipment Mechanic (Tech 2)
Division: Recycling
Status: Full Time/Hourly Position
POSITION SUMMARY: The Mobile Mechanic (Tech2) is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy mobile equipment including loaders, forklifts, skid steers, and other mobile units used throughout the facility. This position also supports mechanical, hydraulic, and limited electrical repair tasks and ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Essential Responsibilities:
•Inspect, diagnose, and repair issues related to diesel and propane powered mobile equipment.
•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on mobile equipment, including fluid changes, break checks, and safety inspections.
•Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems on mobile units.
•Conduct limited electrical diagnostics and repair (e.g., battery systems, lighting, starters).
•Document all work performed through maintenance work orders and PM forms.
•Weld and fabricate components as needed for repair or modification of equipment.
•Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental procedures.
•Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S principles.
•Support lean production initiatives through consistent use of maintenance best practices.
•Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
•4 years of internal maintenance experience (Tech 1 level or equivalent) or
•5 years documented experience as a mobile equipment mechanic, diesel technician, or related heavy equipment repair technician.
•Experience with forklifts, wheel loaders, and skid steers is highly preferred.
•Welding experience preferred but not required.
•Hydraulic system repair experience required.
•DC electrical troubleshooting experience required.
COMPETENCIES:
•Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
•Proficient in MIG and stick welding, plasma cutting, and fabrication.
•Knowledge of hydraulic schematics and troubleshooting methods.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•Frequent physical activity: talking, hearing, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, climbing stairs and ladders.
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds consistently.
•Must be able to operate heavy equipment and hand tools, and perform repairs in sometimes challenging physical conditions (e.g., outdoors, tight spaces).
•Visual acuity required to perform inspections, operate equipment, and ensure quality workmanship.
