The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Mining Candidate for the Engineering Profession (CEP) to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Engineering Superintendent, the Mining CEP is responsible for performance analysis, process automation, and project management in the mining engineering team.
With sufficient experience, the incumbent will be eligible to register as a professional engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
This is a 14/14 FIFO rotational position based in Geraldton, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
•Analyse performance statistics to identify shortcomings and propose improvements.
•Understand and map-out workflows in drill and blast, mine planning, geotech, and survey.
•Implement semi-automated workflows and process maps in Deswik.
•Create macros and programs for the automation of engineering tasks.
•Implement automation in data aggregation and reporting.
•Create new or improved designs of mine infrastructure such as haul road networks.
•Prepare scope of work, quote, funding and other procurement documents.
•Assist in the selection and management of consultants and contractors.
•Monitor project schedules and budgets.
•Field inspections in conjunction with the mine forepersons.
•Coordination with the survey team for lay-outs and pick-ups.
•Perform drill and blast, mine planning, and geotechnical engineering roles during vacation periods.
•Follow proper document control to ensure information is organised and readily accessible.
Job Conditions
•Experience in open pit and underground mines.
•Experience in hard-rock gold mining is an asset.
•Strong software skills in data analysis, GIS, and 3D modeling.
•Experience in mine planning, mine geotechnical, or drill & blast engineering is an asset.
•Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
